Microcontent space

mcspaceEric Sigler posted a nice drawing of the Microcontent space. I would like to extend the yellow circles to be any Microcontent type. Calling something audio/video/photo/text is a bit general to me. Unless you would call that input to Microcontent. That also implies that the dark blue circles (geotagging, foaf, photo annotation) are added on the yellow circles before you put into a CMS. The big idea is that the creator tags his content and creates the necessary metadata. You could leave a blue circle for metadata that is not created by the author. Eric asks whether the core of his picture is settling down. I do not agree. This is where standards for Microcontent should be created and supported by CMS’s.

I agree with this picture that it is essential that the Microcontent is put into a CMS. Only thus is it possible to publish the data into multiple type of containers (red circles). And the purple circles (aggregators) are indeed the places where the interesting things are going to happen. And isn’t social sharing also a subscriber? Or is that a product? And why is Jabber separate? Isn’t that a user as well? Or has it a different purpose?

Anyway, it is a nice picture.
