Local MicroContent directory

In the DataLibre discussion group an important theme is the publication of all MicroContent in a single file. This could be a RSS-file or Atom-file. Especially RSS is not suited to such a purpose, as it is supposed to present a time-based snapshot of the content. In theory one could include in a single file all items, but this could become very large. And when this large file is pulled often by users their is a backlash on bandwidth use as well. So another solution must be found.

Why not create a directory-file with all the MicroContent that is published on a site. I assume that each piece of MicroContent is published as a separate XML-file. Users can pull the directory first to see what content is available and only pull the files that they want to have. This can be the files that are changed, the new ones, or whatever. This might limit the impact on bandwidth-usage.

To experiment a bit I created an OMPL-file for the recipes that I have published on my weblog and are available in XML-format as well. Have a look. I guess that there are possibly other fields required. Now I created this file by hand, but I guess that it is not to difficult to create such a file automatically. All the required information is normally available in a weblog-system.
