This is an interesting application by Logan Collins that allows students to manage their assignments. Basically an assigmnent is something that has to be done for a course before a certain date and which results in a grade.So one can see this as a to-do item. And the application allows the user to export an assigment to his iPod or iCal calendar. So one could see an assignment as a specific class of a todo.
What the application makes more interesting is the integration of courses. Each assignment is matched with a certain course. And a course has a teacher, a place, etc. The user can subscribe to classcasts, which I assume to be a set of courses. This alleviates the problem of creating courses. And this also allows the student to email the teacher.
I can image many more extensions, which make it an even better hybrid app. So we'll see where this app goes.
