I still had this blog-item on James Taubers blog on my to-look list. It describes how Alexa allows you to define a info.txt on your website, which Alexa can then retrieve. It is a reasonable good idea. But they have that idea already around for a long time. I think I put my file there some five years ago (if not longer), I have edited the file in march 2004 for the last time.
It is a pity that they have not upgraded this idea to some kind of OpenListing thing with some XML-namespaces. And as the commenters of the blog-item have said they should also have open de URI-space, so that the filename and location could be free. But remember such a file is a good way to claim your website and probably should be at the root, so that you can show that you have access to this root.
Anyway the Alexa implementation is very old and I get sometimes the impression that they forgot about it. I find the information hard to find on their website. And they did not say when I first registered.
