Mobisodes MicroContent

Bryan Alexander notices the word Mobisodes and it reminds him of MicroContent. Mobisodes are just short (what is short?) videoclips suitable for small interface (think 240x320). Thus it can be viewed on a mobile phone or video iPod. And he notes that video must be different for small screens, as one can not see all details.

I wonder whether this is not a moving target. With the advances of technology screens will only get better resolution and become larger. And thus we end up with plain old television. Video on a mobile seems to be just a service wanting customers. Yet another way to push 3G. Why not use a PSP with a mobile connection? At least the PSP has a nice screen size and sufficient storage. Or look at the Video iPod with 120 hours of video storage. Size (screen and storage) are passing limitations for these devices and the same is true for bandwidth. Fixed bandwidth is still increasing rapidly and the same is true for wireless, so also small is a passing limitation.

For me the interesting thing of the word Mobisode is the sode-part. It implies recurring pieces of MicroContent. And with recurring one thinks blogs, podcasts, etc. It is the thread relating all these items that makes it interesting.
