I have been thinking about the Reading Lists idea of Dave Winer. I have the impression that things are turning to complicated. Wouldn’t it be possible to combine Blog rolls, bookmarks, readinglists, xfolk and Neutrino into one thing. For me they are all bookmarks, only the intention is different.
And when I publish the URL of a feed, in what format should it be? My review-blog is now published in 7 formats and I did not even finish yet. Time to introduce the AuthoritiveURL. People should look at the URL, usually the webpage, and find the other available formats through autodiscovery. Or use a visual clue on the page.
And this implies that a reading list or a neutrino list should be as simple as a list of bookmarks. And by using different categories I can express my intention. And I can publish the list of bookmarks in multiple formats, but the AuthoritiveURL shows the webpage. Thus
I am not sure I want to publish a Neutrino or a ReadingList, each with it’s own format. Use autodiscovery on my AuthoritiveURL to find the xmlURL.
