HonorTags introduced a proposal for standard tags for authors. An author can use these tags to indicate the intention of his blog post. These tags should help distinguish between serious journalism and personal notes. In total they defined 6 intentions and separate tags.
I am not sure about these tags. I do not think that I will use them. It is up to my readers to say whether my posts are serious enough. I like the idea to distinguish between fiction, personal and professional though. I use multiple blogs already to distinguish between these categories. So I prefer to put the distinction on a higher level.
The idea of HonorTags brings up the idea of standardising tags. I did not see much of that yet. I think we need something here, but they might be called good practices as well. For instance how do I tag a person? Last name first or first name? How to separate between first and last name? And how do I do this for locations? What language? Do I use Austria or Osterreich? Or can we leave this up to Technorati to define tag synonyms?
