My first thoughts on MarsEdit and its relation with weblog-services or -systems suggest that there is a tight interrelation between Microcontent clients and publishing systems. Such a client is more the front-end of a CMS, than an independent client. Maybe this dependence is not such a good idea. Especially of you follow DataLibre’s ideas.
Any good open interface should be centred around the datamodel. In the MicroContent case this should be either a RSS or Atom file for sets of MicroContent or a well-defined XML-file for single MicroContenten items. With well-defined that there should exist a public DTD.
In this light MarsEdit is not a basic MicroContent client as it does not publish RSS-, Atom- or other XML-files.
