Catalog is an Application by Neometric Software, which allows you to create indices of CD’s, etc. As it has a feel of a MicroContent client, I had a look at it. It has a three-pane layout, but it is missing groups and smart lists. The view-pane (in a drawer) allows you to view the metadata of a selected file. All in all it should help the user to find a archived file.
You might call all this information (path and file metadata) MicroContent, but from a publishing standpoint it does not seem relevant. However if you start talking about files that are publicly relevant, such as audio, video, PDF, etc, it does might be relevant. It is all about publishing files that you think the world must see. And then the question is how the world gets access, etc. So such a client is relevant after all.
