Casual Content Creation

Evan Williams and Jason Kottke discuss a different kind of Podcast approach: casual instead of episodic. It means that there is hardly any relation between one episode and the next episode from a content point of view. There does not have to a link between episodes. And that is very similar to blogs: the only common thing is the author (although people do call blog items episodic). Podcasts seem to be more episodic in nature, but that is only how they are used nowadays. The idea of casual publishing seems to be a better description. One could also define this a bit in MicroContent terms: an episodic publication requires a field that contains a link to the previous episode and thus creating an episodic thread.
