In these pages we have gathers some infomration sources, which might help you plan your holiday on Domaine the Sivas. Much information is available on Internet by now, although it still can be improved. We also mention some nice books and the relevant maps.

To get to know the surroundings of Domaine de Sivas we bought several books. We present you here with a list of books that we liked most. All these books can either be bought in the local bookshop, the Maison the Presse, the SuperU supermarket or the tourist offices.

  • Alpes du Sud, Haute-Provence, Guide de Tourisme Michelin, ISBN 2 06 003 021 8 (fr, en?) - the well known green book by Michelin. Nice for those that want to make day trips from le Domaine. If you go to the north you need an other book;
  • Randonnées pédestres dans les Préalpes du Buëch, Guides de randonnées Édisud 5 (1986) ISBN 2 85744 240 8 (fr) - A nice book if you want to do some longer walks. The book is a bit dated but the walks are still good to do;
  • 30 balades en famille en Diois-Vercors-Buëch, Pascal Riché (1999) Editions Didier Richard, ISBN 2 7038 0276 5 (fr) - this is our preferred book for walking;
  • 52 balades en famille autour de Gap, Jean-Marc Roux (1997) Editions Didier Richard, ISBN 2 7038 0198 X - a nice book for walks to the east of Domaine de Sivas;
  • Randonnées pédestres dans le Buëch, 20 itinéraires choisis du Serrois au Rosanais - a small booklet for walking;
  • Découverte du Buëch par le vélo, VTT Cyclotourisme, Itinéraires et patrimoine, Tome 1 - Le Serrois (2000) ISBN 2 9505785 4 3 - for the ATB fans (which we are not);

Maps

For day trips the maps published by Michelin (scale 1 to 200 000) are still the best. For Domaine de Sivas you will need map 77 and map 81. We are just on the edge. There are now also maps by Departement and other scales available.

For tourist information the map Préalpes du Sud, Buëch, Dévoluy, Durance by IGN (scale 1 to 60 000) is very nice.

People who really love details, for instance for walking or ATB trips will need maps from the Blue Series (scale 1 to 25 000) by IGN. For Domaine de Sivas you will need map 3338 OT. And depending on where you are going to walk, you need some other maps as well.
