Sisteron lies picturesque in a curve of the river against a mountain wall. Through the narrow streets you climb to the imposing Citadel. Built on a promontory it defended the entrance to the valleys of the Alps and provides you with great views. Next to the cathedral in Sisteron you will find the Musée du Temps Perdu, where you can buy a guide for the Route de Temps. This beautiful trip leads you along various geological finds. The route is very well described with signs along the way. However the booklet offers extensive descriptions of the fossils that can be seen. Along the way you can get out of the car for walks of various length. It is a great way to discover the geological history of the Provence and the related fossils.
