Physical grounding

The Holoverse is likely an extremely important ingredient of our universe. One would expect that modern physics already encountered it somehow. With this in my head I went through the book The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene. In this book explains the latest insight of string physics and the even more encompassing brane physics. Unfortunately I did not find any evidence of a Holoverse in this book.

That is until I skimmed through the Notes. In note 2 to chapter 15 (p411) we read:

Susskind and ‘t Hooft have suggested that all of the physical happenings we encounter may actually be encoded fully through equations in a lower-dimendional world. .... Recently, work by the Harvard physicist Juan Maldacena, together with important subsequent work by Witten and of the Princeton physicists Steven Gubser, Igor Klebanov and Alexander Plyakov, has shown that, at least in certain cases, string theory embodies the holographic principle.

This is extremely encouraging. As string theory is extremely complex, it might take a while before we have the final word on it.
