A song that goes on singing

In this article published in What is Enlightenment Amy Edelstein and Ellen Daly interview Beatrice Bruteau. She works in the the field of evolutionary spirituality. She thinks that eveloution has to make a next step and that that step involves humans. Contrary to previous steps humans play an active part in creating that step, due to their free will. We are the evolution. She bases a lot of her thoughts on Teilhard de Chardin. This next step is related to the connections between humans and has a lot to do with love. She does not agree with the eastern view on enlightement. She feels that our earthly stay has a profound meaning and the goal of an individual is not to escape from it. She has no ideas about the goal of evolution.

Is it true that the Budha would just be a physicist?

In this interview reprinted in What Is Enlightenment Renée Weber intervies Fritjof Capra. They discuss the combination of an enlightened buddhist and a physicist. The conclusion is that such a physicist would not do any other physics.

The Slenderst Knowledge

In this article in What Is Enlightenment E.F. Schumacher describes his problems with the current materialistic scientific approach. One of his main problems is that vary valid questions are not attacked by science, they are even ignored. It seems that science is focusing more on what we know than on what we do not know. He calls it science for manipulation in contrast to science for knowledge.

What Matters Most

This article by E.F. Schumacher appeared in the magazine What is Enlightenment.

It presents a discussion by these two authors on the value of theoretical physics. They both agree that the materialistic view of science has failed. Capra beliefs that physics has moved on and now provides a more holistic view, which can be valuable to other disciplines. Schumacher on the other hand thinks that physics can be of no value to other levels than the atomic level. It is mainly the mathematical approach of physics that Schumacher brings in doubt. Schumacher sees four levels of beings (mineral, plant, animal, human) with the elements (matter, life, consiousness, self-awareness)  and that each level has it’s own laws.

Consciousness is the ground of all being

Read a nice interview with Amit Goswami. He takes the consequences of quantum mechanics very literal. He says that the transcendental aspect of quantum mechanics should be used as the basis of everything material. Only after an observer comes into play, the world exists. And this is not only true on the quantum level, but also on the macro level. And this implies that humankind creates the world around itself, by just thinking about it. Goswami claims that by using this idea he can explain a lot of phenomena which are now outside standard science. I have to read some of his books. It is a very interesting idea.

This reminds me a lot of the holoverse idea, which is a repository of thoughts and actions made in the material world. For us this is also the reason why people are on earth. Only by performing actions in the material world, things can be changed in the holoverse. Many other questions are provoked by this idea, but that is another thing. Goswami calls the holoverse, consciousness and others call it God. Need to get a better grip on that still.

Channeling

Friends pointed us to the French website Ere Nouvelles. This site seems to describes stories that are channelled. I got mixed feelings about channelling. On the one hand I do believe that there is something in it. However what to make of all those stories. Who is right? Who is wrong? It is impossible to evaluate all these stories. I rather would like to see the communalities between everything. However I did not find such a thing yet.
