Bormes-les-Mimosas
From the looks of it, I guess this is an old sundial. Also nice that it hewn out of stone. The motto is Ab Hora Dei, Ad Horam Diei. I guess this means from God’s Hour, to God’s Hour.
The dial shows hourlines from 8 to 7 o’clock. Interesting to see that between 12 and 1, it also shows the quarters. I wonder whether this had any religious meaning.
The dial can be found in Bormes-Les-Mimosas, Var, France. It is on the main church (I think St. Truphème) in the center of town above the main entrance.
