VLC Media Player

I have been fighting with the viewing of versions video formats. Luckily I could open two different video formats with this player, which could not be opened with Quicktime. So I will keep this on my list, just in case. Pity that there are no plugins for iTunes. I hate using multiple players, I want just one solution for all my media.

An application which allows the user to manage his Service Menu. I am not sure how often I will use it, but using it just once is already very useful.

TextEdit

A basic text editing application. From time to time this application is invoked by opening a linked filed.

GraphicConverter

I use this application from time to time to convert ICNS files to PNG format.

NOS Teletekst browser

This application allows the user to view the teletekst pages sent via the TV-channels on the public dutch channels. I found this app as I was searching a way to quickly access news on the pope. Instead of typing in the page numbers you can also click on the numbers in the window. The app seems pretty good, although it is not truly MacOS-X.

DoggieBox

This application allows me to create rhythms. I was able to download the sounds for a Djembe, so I can create the rhythms that I have to learn. It looks OK. I will experiment with it a bit more. I like the export to Quicktime, so I can upload the files to the web.

Xupport

An interesting tools which gives access to all kinds of system-level things. Might be useful, but I do not really need it. I was potentially interesting as I want to change the list of Services available in the menu. But the app could not help me here.

Netscape

Although I prefer other browsers, I still use this one. I need to access my banking accounts. There is not much more that can be said about this browser. A big reason I do not use it, is that it is not a real OS-X application.

iSync

From time to time I use this application to sync my addressbok with my iPod.

Mobster

This application reads the a XML created by the Export Database command in iTunes. This file is next uploaded to the MusicMobs-service. Based on the XML-file a list of recommendations is created in this application. For each recommendation there are three links: one to open de corresponding page in MusicMobs, one to open the track in the iTunes Music Store and one to search for the track.

It is an interesting application, but when I am listening to music, I am not searching for new music. So this application is not very useful.

iPodRip

For checking the MusicMobs-service I needed to have the content of my music library in XML-format. iTunes offers an Export Library button to do this. However this only exports the content on the Mac and not what is on the iPod. I could not find any application or script which would do the same with the iPod-library. The only solution I could find quickly was to copy my iPod back to my Mac. That is what this application does. I guess when I got my XML-file, I can delete the files again. But it is nice to have such an application at hand.

I installed this program for Alwin. He used to play it when we had still OS9 installed and he wanted to try it again. So I installed it.

AP Grapher

I needed a program that could show me the signal strength of my Airport. It used to be part of Apple’s software, but I could not find it. This program however does the job. I relocated my Airport for better coverage.

I do not think I will use it again.

SpamStopper

An interesting application, which allows me to encode the public email addresses that I have on my website. Hopefully this stops the harvesting a little bit. I will check it out.
