A very good book. In this book Paul Theroux describes his trip from Cairo to Cape Town. He takes an easterly route through Ethiopia and Sudan, Kenya and Malawi. Amazing how he travels by public transporation and meets all kind of people along the way. The book saddened me a bit if you see what shape Africa is in. I just finished reading this book by Howard Rheingold. It is a very good book, which gives a good overview of various group phenomena, like SMS, Mobile Networks, Peer-peer, WiFi, Blogs. All these new technologies give more power to the end-user. The book discusses the possible relevant sociological theories which might explain what is happening. In this respect the book stries to bridge the gap between theory and practice. It certainly does describe a new phenomenon, for which the outcome is still uncertain. Author: Howard Rheingold |

I bought this book by accident. I thought I bought a police thriller by Peter Robsinson, but that turend out to be someone else. I however read this book and it was very pleasurably reading, especially for someone who rejected the commercial world as well. Peter Robinson is a former script writer of Ronald Reagan. At the end of Reagan's reign he decides to get a MBA from Stanford. He has however a literary background (a poet), which makes his life very difficult at Stanford. He accountes how he fights through this. And he observes his fellow students and their ambitions. Great reading. However do not expect a thorough analysis of a MBA study. Author: Peter Robinson |
