Well, I found the answer!
It was in another post, here it is and it WORKS!’’
Using terminal, type:
cd /Library/Receipts
the problem lies with the iTunes.pkg package which is already there, and needs to be removed. To do this, from within the terminal type:
sudo -s
then enter an admin password. Then type:
rm -R iTunes.pkg
Start your install again, and off you go!
Let wel op:
have you actually looked in hd/library/receipts to see if the itunes package is there ?
some users on the x board have reported that a receipt folder is not being created in the hd/library location but rather in hd/users//library ..
have a look at the library folder in your home directory and see if a receipt folder has been created, the itunes package could be located in there

The system is detecting the error code -56 that says the hard drive has a logical problem… try running the OS X 10.1 Disk Utility from a bootable disk to fix it. If it does not fix, use the DiskWarrior 2.1 CD or other OS X 10.1 compatible disk utility.
